Every Kid Outdoors - attention 5th Graders!!

2023 UPDATE! Unfortunately, 5th graders no longer qualify for the free US National Parks Pass. However, if you have a current school year 4th grader or homeschool equivalent they are still eligible to receive their pass! For more info, see our post.

Do you have a 2020/2021 school year 5th grader? Did your kiddo miss out on their 4th grader pass last year? Then you need to make sure you're taking advantage of the new NPS 5th grade access pass.

Great Sand Dunes National Park

Just announced by the National Park Service, this year's 5th graders who missed their opportunity to explore federal lands with the Every Kid Outdoors pass because of COVID will get a second chance! The program is valid now through August 31, 2021!

Every Kid Outdoors is a fairly new program designed to get kids and their families out into nearly every area of federal land and water. Seriously any place you could think of! It is supported through the US Department of the Interior and will be good all through the summer. Why 4th grade? The theory is that this age (9-11 years old) is perfect for exploration and a sense that this land belongs to them as well.

Now your 5th grader can get their whole family entry into places run by the National Park Service, Fish and Wildlife Service, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation, U.S. Forest Service, and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

5th grade national park pass

You guys!  It is SOOOO easy, we already used ours at the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve! Just print off the form from the link below and take it with you to any federal land. Your kiddo WILL NOT trade it in like they did for the 4th grade pass, so continue to hold on to the paper until it expires at the end of August. If you lose it, just print another.

Grab your kiddo and help them get their own pass here. And with all the info the website has, I encourage you to reach out to your teachers to share it with their own students.
